East Central Dollars for Scholars Wrapped in Rich History Since 1987

The first meeting was held in 1987 in the East Central high school library organized by Principal Ralph Nentl and Chris Thorvig.  Other members present were Carol Theis and Kathy Ebent.  During the meeting Chris thought the board should set a goal.  When Carol Theis mentioned $100,000, the board laughed but agreed they would set that amount as a goal.  Since then, the board has had support from the Lions, businesses, and communities of Sandstone and Askov.  According to Carol Theis, "I am thankful that we were able to reach our original goal plus much more."
